Nick Wood was a member of the England Under-21 Grand Slam winning squad three seasons ago and also played in the World Championship. He joined Gloucester, his first club, in 2001 after leaving Radley College. Has played for England Under-18s and first appeared as a second half replacement for Stuart Turner, of Sale Sharks, for England Saxons against Ireland A at Kingsholm in March 2006. He was in the 32-man squad for the Saxons’ two matches last winter and figured in starting line up against Italy A at Exeter in February before appearing as a replacement, again for Turner, in the 30-5 win over Ireland, during the same month.
Did you know?
Nick graduated through the Kingsholm rugby academy and stepped into the first team squad in 2003-04 when he was a member of the prop forward pool that also included Patrice Collazo and Phil Vickery, now of London Wasps. He showed the consistency to make around 20 Premiership appearances this season and help Gloucester to finish at the top of the table. He has also won representative honours in hockey.
