A big, ball-carrying loose forward in the mould of the great André Venter, Duane Vermeulen burst onto the scene for the Cheetahs during the 2007 Vodacom Super Rugby series. After moving to Cape Town, he’s been one of the Stormers’ most consistent players. Vermeulen, who has missed out on Springbok selection a couple of times earlier in his career because of untimely injuries, finally made his Test debut in 2012. Depsite being a strong runner and very skilful for a big player, he has shown a propensity for stealing opposition ball on the ground.
