Anthony Allen, on the books of NEC Harlequins as a junior, joined Gloucester from Millfield School in 2005 and last November signed a new two-year contract extension after winning his first Test caps. He had run in two tries and forced a penalty try when the Cherry & Whites beat London Wasps to win the Compass Group Middlesex Sevens for the first time in August 2005. Also scored a try in his second Guinness Premiership match against Leicester Tigers, added another against Bristol and then two in the London Wasps' match. A member of England’s Senior National Academy, he represented England Under-18s and 19s and was the only player in the 2006 England Grand Slam-winning Under-21 side to be on the field for every minute of every match.
Did you know?
Anthony’s first sporting success was winning the Millfield School under-10s 75-metres, 200-metres and long jump after moving from Clayesmore School. He went on to represent England Under-18s and 19s at rugby and also had the distinction of scoring five tries for England Under-21s in their Grand Slam winning 2005-06 season. Outside rugby, he enjoys playing golf and supporting Portsmouth.
