A natural fullback who is rock solid at the back, Zane Kirchner made his Springbok Test debut in the third Test against the British & Irish Lions in Johannesburg in July 2009. He also played for the Emerging Springboks against the Lions earlier on the tour. Kirchner, who got injured in the first Test against England in June 2012, started in all six Tests during The Castle Rugby Championship. He is very solid under the high ball, strong on the counter-attack and aggressive in the tackle. He also has a very good kicking game and is one of the best kick-chasers in South Africa.
