Brumbies 2003:
Clyde Rathbone will never forget 2002. He made his Super 12 debut for the Sharks against the Crusaders. He then captained South Africa to victory over Australia in the IRB Under 21s Rugby World Cup in Johannesburg before quitting SA with his family in favour of a move to Canberra. Rathbone is a quick, strong uncompromising player who has impressed everyone since arriving in Australia.
Brumbies 2004:
Rathbone would probably rather forget his first season with the ACT Brumbies. Plagued by a groin injury for most of 2003, Rathbone played in only one trial before missing the next six months. He eventually took the field in Queensland Premier Rugby late in the year and was a key member of the premiership winning Canberra Vikings team. Born in South Africa, Rathbone came to the Brumbies in 2002 after making his debut for the Sharks against the Crusaders in 2002.
Brumbies 2005:
Beginning the 2004 season as a virtual unknown on the wing in his Super 12 debut, Rathbone was Australian rugby's find of 2004. He played all 13 matches for the Brumbies and finished with nine tries. Rathbone made his Test debut in the first match of the international season against Scotland in Melbourne and proceeded to play 11 of the 12 Tests in the calendar year. He is a powerful runner and one of the most feared finisher in world rugby.
