Hard as nails, AJ Venter is, along with John Smit, the most-capped South African Vodacom Super Rugby player (at the end of 2012), with 125 appearances in this gruelling competition. Although he only broke through at international level late in his career, he also played in 25 Tests for the Springboks as an uncompromising loose forward in the mould of the great Andre Venter - eight of these at lock.
