Deon Carstens is an experienced front row forward and made his Springbok debut in 2002 when he was part of the end-of-year tour squad under coach Rudolf Straeuli. He was out of the picture for a couple of seasons, but fought his way back into national contention and won two more caps as a replacement in the two end-of-year Tests against England at Twickenham in 2006. Carstens has represented South Africa at Schools, U21, U23 and ‘A’ team level.
