"Nacho" began his career playing mini-rugby for Liceo Naval Club. His great mobility and assurance when passing the ball are assets he developed as a member of the Pumas team.
This lock, who also plays as a number eight, is one of the few players who has participated in most of the matches played by the Pumas ever since Marcelo Loffreda and Daniel Baetti took over as team coaches in 2000.
During the last World Cup "Nacho", who is currently playing for Castres, consolidated his position as a lock and has remained in this position ever since.
A year later, he left his childhood club and became a professional player for Bègles Bordeaux in France, where he joined Lisandro Arbizu and Federico Méndez, amongst others. Ignacio, together with many of the players in this squad, was a member of the first U21 representative team that participated in the Southern Hemisphere Tournament held in 1995.
He also participated in the 1996 University World Cup. |
