No rugby player has played more in the Green and Gold than Victor Matfield, arguably the best lock in world rugby during his decade playing Test rugby. Matfield, who played in 110 Tests and four tour matches for a total of 114 Springbok matches, appeared in three Rugby World Cups. He is the second most-capped Springbok ever and was a successful captain at provincial level, having led the Bulls to three Vodacom Super Rugby titles. Matfield has earned numerous accolades through his consistently strong performances at all levels of the game and dedicated many hours to analysing his opponents. He was also a very strong leader and captained the Boks in 17 Tests, amongst others on their 2010 tour to Ireland and the UK.
