| The diminutive fullback made his mark in 1999 with his accurate kicking and strong running for a small man. Measuring just 1,76m in height, Engelbrecht is powerful with the ball in hand with a low centre of gravity making him difficult to bring down.
In 1999 he was top scorer in all first-class rugby in South Africa with 418 points in 25 appearances for the Lions and three matches for the Cats.
Engelbrecht was another player to benefit from the coaching of Laurie Mains, whose consistent selection policy provided the player with much needed confidence after the Cats discarded him early in their campaign.
Enjoys gardening when he has the time. Has his own office-automation business, selling all office necessities and will soon be selling his own Okavango biltong at a shopping centre near his home. Loves scuba diving and both fresh water and sea fishing. |
