| Andre van Niekerk is a bulky young hooker known for his powerful charges close to the ruck has earned a reputation as one of the toughest forwards in the country.
Born in Zimbabwe, he made eight appearances for the Cats in 2001 and was chosen for the SA A tour to Europe at the end of last season.
A former Lions Schools and U21s representative, he debuted for SWD in 1998 where he played Vodacom and Currie Cup for the next two seasons.
He moved to the Cheetahs in 2000 but has returned to the Lions for this season.
