Brendan Venter was a very creative player and someone who loved cutting his opponents down with solid and aggressive defence. He played in two RWC tournaments, winning gold in 1995 and bronze in 1999. After his playing days, which included a stint at London Irish in England, he went into coaching and was assistant coach to the Junior Springboks when they won the IRB Junior World Champs for U20s on home soil in 2012. Venter is a qualified medical doctor.
