The Pampas continued their unbeaten run in the Vodacom Cup, thrashing the Border Bulldogs 45-26 (halftime 24-9) in Stellenbosch on Saturday.

The Bulldogs are yet to win a game this season and remain at the bottom of the South Section log after the Pampas ran riot, claiming a bonus point along with the convincing win.

Five tries in the first half put the Pampas in control with Jeronimo de la Fuente scoring twice while Benjamin Madero slotted two conversions.

The Pampas opened the scoring in the first minute when De la Fuente got over the line, but the conversion was missed.

Border bounced back with a penalty in the fourth minute, converted by Karlo Aspelling, but it took just five minutes for the Pampas to cross the line again as Matias Massero scored and Benjamin Madero converted.

The Bulldogs managed two quick penalties in the 13th and 21st minute, both through Aspelling , but their defence had no answer for the rampant Pampas who scored again in the 25th minute as De la Fuente crossed the line for the second time and Madero kicked over the poles to stretch the lead.

To rub salt in the Bulldogs’ wounds, Benjamin Macom scored another try and even though the conversion was missed, the Pampas were in firm control at the break.

The rout continued in the second half, but this time the Bulldogs found some solace by crossing the line thrice as Quinton Crocker, Juan Pretorius and Johannes Seerane all managed to find five points for the struggling side, but Karlo Aspelling managed just one conversation.

The Pampas were also awarded a penalty try in the 58th minute which was converted by Madero and for a short while it looked like Border might somehow claw their way back into the match as Crocker and Pretorius scored, but the Bulldogs once again failed to make the most of their chances as just one of the tries was converted.

A late try for Border in the 78th minute summed up their day as yet another conversion was missed and the Pampas claimed an easy win in Stellenbosch to cruise to second on the South Section of the Vodacom Cup table.
