February 01, 2013

They will face Kenya in the quarter-finals The BlitzBokke rebounded strongly when they played Wales, beating them 21-0. They needed to beat Wales by nine points or more to finish second in their pool and advance to the Cup quarter-finals.

An opening match defeat against Samoa (19-10) was followed by another dropped result against Canada (26-15), which left the Wales match as a last-gasp effort to make the Cup quarter-finals, together with Samoa, who has won all three their pool matches.

Wales have beaten Canada in their opening match and when Samoa eased past the Canadians it opened the door for Paul Treu’s side.

In other upsets earlier in the tournament, England and Scotland scored wins over New Zealand and Fiji respectively. Update to follow....
