Springbok Women aiming for Nomads clean sweep
June 29, 2012
The Springbok Women will be aiming for a morale boosting series win against the star studded Nomads when the teams meet in the second and final series encounter on Saturday at Goodwood. Kick-off is at 2pm.

Last week the South Africans delivered a convincing display to beat the visitors by 28-17 in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

South Africa Women’s coach, Denver Wannies, have kept the starting 15 unchanged for Saturday, a huge vote of confidence for the run-on team who quickly got into their stride despite the long layoff.

Tomorrow’s match will only be the second time in four seasons that the South African women will be in action on home soil.

In another boost for the team, industrious loose forward Mandisa Williams, the regular team captain, have been included on the bench after a knee injury prevent her from inclusion last week. She replaces Lusanda Mtiya. The SA team will again be led by experience prop Cebisa Kula.

“The team played well last week and the key will be to keep that momentum and improve on our areas of concern. The Nomads were probably a bit rusty last week and they will be much better prepared for this match. We are therefore bracing ourselves for a huge onslaught, which will be a big test of our character,” said Wannies.

The final match in the series will once again be preceded by curtain-raisers starting at 11.15am and featuring women's teams from Maties, Busy Bee, Blue Jet, United Brothers, UWC, Khayelitsha and Tygerberg.

Entrance to a great family, fun-filled sporting day is free. Refreshments and food are available and Goodwood Rugby Club makes a great local club environment for kids and parents to relax and enjoy an entertaining day out.
