Blue Bulls smash Eagles in U19 opener
July 16, 2012
The Vodacom Blue Bulls smashed the SWD Eagles 90-0 in the opening match of the Absa Under-19 Competition on Friday, with flanker Jacques du Plessis scoring a hat-trick in the win at Outeniqua Park in George.

Fullback Jacques Rossouw kicked 10 conversions in the win where the Blue Bulls dotted down 14 times.

The two other matches played on Saturday turned out to be much more competitive.

The Leopards shocked the Totoya Free State, beating the home side 32-31 in Bloemfontein, while DHL Western Province had too much in the tank for the MTN Lions in Johannesburg, beating the home team 23-13.

In Bloemfontein, Jan Strumpher missed a penalty attempt to the posts that could have won the match for his side, while Tomasso Allen kicked two conversions and three penalties for Western Province in their win.
