Luke Watson returns to the Southern Kings' starting line up this weekend and will start at flank in their Vodacom Super Rugby match against the Highlanders in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
Watson, who comes into the team for the injured Jacques Engelbrecht, also takes over the captaincy from Andries Strauss, who will be the vice-captain.
As a result of Engelbrecht's injury, Cornell du Preez moves to No 8, while Wimpie van der Walt will be Watson's flank-partner.
At lock, David Bulbring comes into the starting line up for Rynier Bernardo. There is still concern over the fitness of tighthead prop Kevin Buys. A decision on his availability will be taken on Thursday.
The backline is relatively unchanged, with Marcello Sampson replacing the injured Sergeal Petersen on the wing.
On the bench, Daniel Adongo returns following a solid performance for the EP Kings in the Vodacom Cup, while Shane Gates and fit-again SP Marais replace Waylon Murray and Siviwe Soyizwapi amongst the reserves.
The Kings team is: George Whitehead, Marcello Sampson, Ronnie Cooke, Andries Strauss, Siyanda Grey, Demetri Catrakilis, Shaun Venter, Cornell du Preez, Luke Watson (captain), Wimpie van der Walt, David Bulbring, Steven Sykes, AN Other, Bandise Maku, Schalk Ferreira. Replacements: Virgile Lacombe, AN Other, Daniel Adongo, Devin Oosthuizen, Nicolas Vergallo, Shane Gates, SP Marais.
