Emerging SA names team for crucial match against Romania
June 19, 2008
Emerging SA coach Chester Williams has named his team for the vital and final IRB Nations Cup match tomorrow evening in Bucharest against tournament hosts Romania. Kick-off is at 19h00 SA time.

Supersport will once again televise the match live on SS7.

Both teams are unbeaten after two matches and the South Africans are currently top of the log thanks to a superior points-difference. Chester William’s team thus need an outright victory to retain the Cup.

In their previous matches the South Africans managed to beat Georgia 11-3 and Italy A 20-19 while Romania overcame Uruguay 10-6 and Russia 13-12.

Emerging SA found Italy A an extremely tough nut to crack and Williams told www.sarugby.co.za that his team can expect another bruising contest from Romania.

“I was fortunate to coach over here for a short while and I know how passionate the local people are about their rugby. Romania is a good unit and they have the advantage of playing on home turf.

“The competitiveness amongst all the teams has impressed me tremendously and we can therefore brace ourselves for a big challenge. We have much to play for as the winner will definitely take the Cup,” said Williams.
