In the Hot Seat - Paul Treu from Cape Town
August 01, 2012
Every week we give readers of BOKzine the opportunity to ask questions of South African rugby personalities. Simply sign up for our weekly fan newsletter, BOKzine, by clicking here!

Your Question: Hi Mr Treu, please advise how we go about obtaining tickets for the Hong Kong Sevens. We are going to Hong Kong but not in a tour group. Hong Kong Rugby Union says they only sell to their local people. Good luck for the upcoming season. Hope to see you in Hong Kong - Thelma

Treu answers: Hi Thelma, many thanks and I do hope that you will be able to get hold of some tickets for Hong Kong. Tickets for this event are very scarce and they get snapped so early after going onto the market. I think you must not give up – give the event organisers another call and maybe tell them you are travelling from abroad. You can also try this link:

Your Question: No question Paul, just a Good Luck wish for the Series and see you in Dubai soon - Cecile de Scally.

Treu answers: Thanks for your support Cecile. We are always looking forward to play in Dubai because it is one of our favourite grounds and we always seem to get good results there. Hopefully we can do it again this year.

Your Question: Paul, why does the team get together so late and what is you preseason plans - Johan from Uitenhage

Treu answers: Johan, some of our players are still in rehab phase after they sustained injuries towards the end of the previous season, while some are also playing in the Absa Currie Cup First Division and will return to our training group in September. These are all dynamics which we have to manage. We hope to announce the addition of some players to the group sometime soon. We will again participate in the Middelburg Sevens in September and my understanding is that the organisers have managed to attract a strong field.

Your Question: Hi Paul will this coming season determine your future as a coach because media reports have linked you to Springbok coaching positions and also that you might possibly move to Vodacom Super Rugby - Andre from Bellville.

Treu answers: At the moment I am very much focussed on my job with the team and to launch a serious challenge for the HSBC Sevens World Series. There are some remaining goals for the team and myself personally, which I would like us to achieve before I start to think about something else. For now, I am looking forward to see the team challenge for the World Series and the Sevens World Cup honours next year in Russia.
