Questions on the Southern Kings

Your Question: What about a SA Conference with the current 5 teams plus the Kings and the best 5 progress to the S15 in 2013? - Ian

Your Question: What will happen to the rugby in the region that the Kings replace in Super 15 2013? Will SARU make sure that they stay finacially viable for the players to stay and make sure they get suficient exposure? - Gert Haasbroek

Your Question: How can a promise be made to a team to allow them to participate in Super15/16, without having the procedures in place. And a team that cannot even compete in the Currie Cup, or secure a series win in the first Division? Politics politics. - Jacques Diener

Your Question: Will the Southern Kings team weaken SA Rugby? The fact that the SA team that come last in the Super series will make provision for the Southern Kings Team to play in the series is not going to make any sense and you will have even more empty stadiums. I recommend that the SA teams play a round before the tournament to see who will go in the series and who will stay at home? - Ian Swarts

Your Question: Thanks for the questions Ian (x2), Gert and Jacques and your suggestions. We're in the process of confirming the process for the identification of South Africa’s representatives in Vodacom Super Rugby next year and I'll be leaving for Sydney with a delegation of franchise representatives and SARU leadership soon to engage SANZAR about this. The decision to include the Kings was taken a number of years ago and has been reaffirmed on several occasions (most recently by a Special Council Meeting in January and we're working hard to make sure this happens to best suit the South African rugby landscape. Our job as SARU is to foster and promote rugby in all parts of South Africa and will continue to do that in conjunction with our unions. Questions on Heyneke Meyer's appointment

Your Question: When is Heineke going to appoint all his support staff. They need to get started for the season ahead. Hopefully Rassie is aalready busy on the technical side. - Bonito Fourie

Your Question: Hello Jurie,Congrats and thanks for the appointment of HM as Bok coach.I am confident that he will make us GREAT in world rugby. My question and big concern is Super Rugby - don't you think the change to the new format resulted in too much rugby and will negatively impact the national team?I personally don't like the new format due to how long it runs. - Greg

Your Question: Hi Bonito and Greg. On the appointment of the assistants: we're working hard at finalising the positions in order for the extensive preparations that are already being made to go into high gear once every position has been filled. We have made great headway and will make an announcement soon. And on the topic of too much rugby and the format of Vodacom Super Rugby, I don't think it will have a massive influence on our players, as the same format counts for Australia and New Zealand and these three nations have constantly been amongst the top teams in the world for the last number of years.

Other questions

Your Question: Hi, I would like to know your opinion about the inclusion of Argentina in the Rugby Championship, and if you think this will benefit SA, NZ and AU. (I´m sure it gonna be great for us). Thanks Tomás from Buenos Aires.

Your Question: Hi Tomás - I'm very excited to see Los Pumas play in the Castle Rugby Championship, as we from SARU have been friends with Argentinean rugby for a very long time. We all saw at the RWC in 2007 what can be achieved in Argentina and I think their inclusion will force all of us in SANZAR to lift our game from this year onwards.

Your Question: Wanneer gaan die T40 skole projek in die OP gelanseer word???? - theo pieterse (Theo asks when will the T40 schools project be launched in EP.)

Your Question: Hi Theo - in hierdie stadium word nog hard gewerk aan die projek, maar ons kyk na April of Mei se kant om dit te loods. (It will be around April or May.)

Your Question: Hoekom is die ondersteuner truie so duur ?

There are three jerseys manufactured at different prices to suit as wide a range of pockets as possible. The commission received by SARU on each jersey you might be surprised to learn is only five percent of the retail selling price. Those jerseys, all of which carry the correct logos and markings, cost R399 (R20 of which goes to SARU), R650 (R32,50) and the high-tech, high specification identical replica playing jersey which costs R1 700 (R85).

Your Question: Hoekom is julle so onderduims, oneties en onprofessioneel in wat julle doen? - Dave

Your Question: Dave, dis 'n aanname wat jy maak en ons stem beslis nie saam met jou nie, maar as jy voorbeelde gee van hierdie dinge, kan ek jou dalk antwoord. (Dave, you’re making assumptions and we reject these claims outright, but would be interested to hear of examples that you think prove the charge.)

Your Question: what's the process to join lions rugby club i would like to join in da future if everything's go right what do i need how big my body should b n all da paper works or any other work which is needed to join the club ill b waiting for ur answer thanks. - altaaf moosa

Your Question: Altaaf, I suggest you get in touch with the Golden Lions Rugby Union at / 011 402 2960. They will be able to assist, but to me it's great to see someone keen to take up the game that we all love so much.
