IRB confirms JWC 2013 kick-off times
April 16, 2013
South Africa will kick off their Junior World Championship (JWC) defence against the United States on Wednesday, 5 June at 20:45 in France, the International Rugby Board announced on Tuesday.

With just 50 days to go until the world’s top Under-20 tournament gets underway in north-west France, anticipation is already at fever pitch as Nantes, Vannes and La Roche-sur-Yon get ready to welcome the future stars of world Rugby.

Tickets for many of the matches are already selling very well, and seats at the three venues are sure to become even more desirable over the coming weeks as fans prepare for the tournament which takes place from June 5-23.

The mouth-watering match-ups start from the very first day, as hosts France take on England in La Roche-sur-Yon at 18:45 local time, with defending champions South Africa taking on USA two hours later in the same venue.

The Junior Springboks are currently on tour in Argentina in preparation for the tournament where they will face France, England and USA in Pool A.

Match Day 2 (June 9) will see the SA U20’s in action against the powerful outfit of England (16:45) while yet another appetising clash take place as southern hemisphere rivals New Zealand face Australia in Vannes at 20.45.

Four days later, La Roche-sur-Yon will again be the venue as hosts France take on South Africa at 20:45 in the final pools fixture.

The final, which will be held in Vannes on June 23, will kick off at 18:45.

Building on the back of 2012's record tournament in South Africa, Tournament Director Philippe Bourdarias believes that the IRB Junior World Championship 2013 is set to be another exciting event.

"This year's tournament is in an area of France that isn't known as a Rugby heartland, but even at this stage we can see that fans in the region are really excited about having the future stars of world Rugby come to their towns," said Bourdarias.

"Tickets are selling well, preparations are on track and now that the kick-off times for the tournament have been announced fans can prepare for some excellent contests featuring the best Under-20 teams in the world."

Tickets and information for the tournament are available at www.ffr.fr and from the IRB Junior World Championship homepage, which is now available in both English and French at www.irb.com/jwc.

The host broadcaster for the IRB Junior World Championship will be announced shortly.
