Dixon cleared
October 02, 2012
Pieter Dixon, Sharks hooker, is free to continue playing rugby after being shown a red card in the Absa Currie Cup match between The Sharks and the Vodacom Blue Bulls, played in Durban on Friday, 28 September 2012.

Dixon was send off by referee Mark Lawrence following a review and recommendation of the Television Match Official Johan Meuwesen. Dixon appeared before, adv Jannie Lubbe, Judicial Officer on Monday 1 October who found that on a balance of probability, the reasons for awarding a red card was wrong.

The player conceded that his boot came into contact with the head of the Blue Bulls player, but stated that it was accidental. Lubbe could not exclude that possibility on the evidence and find that it is more probable that the contact was accidental than deliberate and therefor no further sanction was deemed necessary.
